| | Getting rid of cheap "booze" in UK, a good or a bad thing?! | | The new coalition Government have said that they are going to stop shops from selling alcohol which they are "not making a profit on", so basically the cheap alcohol which we see in the shops, the £2.50 for 4 cans of lager, which is only low alcohol content but cheap enough for people on low incomes to enjoy a beer without breaking the bank! I can see where theya re coming from, we have a HUGE binge drinking problem in the UK, with the "chavs" drinking £1 bottles of cider on the street corners causing trouble for people etc. BUT in my opinion stopping cheap alcohol been sold in shops (i.e. the 3 bottles for £10 offers on wine in Asda), will not stop these people, they dont tend to have bills to pay or families to support, and so all of their money can go onto alcohol, whereas people like me and my husband will be forced to stp buying any alcohol!! We have a moderate income, a house to fund bills to pay and a baby on the way, and we have little left each month to treat ourselves, my husband likes to have a nice cold beer to relax with after a hard week in work (he works 60 hour weeks and works very hard), but is happy for us to buy the cheap beer 4 cheap cans of lager for a... | |

| travel loopholes getting into london. | | i have a group of foriegn people coming to visit me in september and need to move them from Watford into the city to see the sites. we will drive at least as far as watford so we can drive furthur on.a travelcard from watford costs over £15 and times that by 8 for the whole group and it's too expensive. anyone know a better economical solution?thanks in advance | |

| getting complimentary magazine | | I have readers digest send me e-mails with the latest their online newsletters and last time they did this I had just gotten back from the Pennsylvania trip, so I was kind of brain dead at the time.I think they sent this e-mail to enter this contest, but when I clicked on it to enter, I was so out of it, I didn't realizing that by entering I was subscribing to their magazine.Now as much as I love readers digest, we get them occasionally when we can at the store. I not only can't afford it right now, but I don't have a credit card to pay for since it was an online transaction. So when I saw it, I immediately found a link to cancel my subscription and cancelled..Obviously it didn't work because I got another e-mail this morning with my bill..[em]shocked[/em] so I again went to cancel and explained why I was cancelling, that I inadvertently had subscribed and that I had tried to cancel right away when I saw what happened. | you know you're getting old when...........? | | I was trying to do a little exercise this morning[em]whistle[/em]but I realized that I can barely bend down and touch my toes anymore[em]blush[/em].
Yesterday I had to run for the bus and I was huffing and puffing.....[b]"No I'm not overweight and I quit smoking 2 years ago"[/b].
I'm in bed by no later than 8 pm on a Friday night and ready to get up by 1am....they say when you get older you don't need a lot of sleep.
I roll around till I finally get up around 3am on my day off[em]angry[/em].
