myLot Discussions about Knots Landing Memorabilia
Knots Landing
I used to love watching Knots Landing. I know that the first season is now out on DVD, I just wish they'd hurry up and release the rest of the series!
Who remembers Knots Landing?
Knots Landing was a spin off from Dallas which initially centred around 4 couples living in a cul de sac in Knots Landing, a fictional beach community in California. Gary Ewing (Ted Shackelford) was the "black sheep" brother of the Ewing clan (of Dallas fame) who was married to ditsy Valene (Joan Van Ark), their adult daughter, Lucy (Charlene Tilton aka known as the poison dwarf), lived with the other Ewings in Dallas and never showed up in Knots Landing. This prime time soap opera ran from 1979 to 1993 for 14 seasons and Michele Lee who played Karen Fairgate Mckenzie was the only character who was in every episode from start to finish of the show. Some of the more famous people who appeared on the show were Nicolette Sheridan (who played Paige Matthews), Alex Baldwin (who played Valene's estraned brother Joshua Rush), Lisa Hartman (who played Ciji Dunne and Cathy Geary Rush), William Devane (who played Greg Sumner) and Donna Mills (who played the many times married Abby Fairgate Cunningham Ewing Sumner), Brian Austin Green (Brian Cunningham).Special famous guest stars also included: Helen Hunt, Halle Berry, Michael York, Dick Sargent, Billy Bob Thornton, Marcia Cross,...
What was your favorite night time soap opera?
I actually really like them all. Dallas always reminds me of my grandmother. I remember her babysitting me on a Friday night and cursing out JR LOL. I liked Dynasty and Falcon Crest, but my all time fav has to be Knots Landing. What a dysfunctional neighborhood LOL. There was always wonderful drama and secrets, addictions, and all the stuff that makes soap operas great. What about you?
Old sitcoms
Do any of you remember sitcoms like Family Matters, Full House, Cosby show, Punky Brooster, Rosanne, Fresh Prince of Bellaire The list goes on and on. What was your favorite? Do you still watch them to this day. For me they incite warm memories and when I am sad I like to lean back and watch some, it's a good pill to take. Things like 90210 Are more like soapopras, but what of those did you like and still watch to this day? Which ones do you like currently, they are so very differnt in context than they used to be. What do you thing, do you think the older ones where better?
What Was Your Favorite Primetime Soap From The 80's??
Mine was Dalls-loved JR Ewing
are you serious?!
Just been flicking through the channels, and saw a programme titled "Days of our lives" thought to myself Joey, friends? decided to check it out. Nothing to do with him as far as i can tell, but what i can't tell is whether it's a serious soap opera?! The acting is terrible! Do Americans have any soaps like ours ( england) (depressing ones like eastenders and coronation street lol) all we get to see is the like's of Dallas, dynasty, Knots landing etc and they aren't about your everyday people. Are all american soaps about the rich?
GH.....Trevor Lansing Has Been Cast
Stephen Macht joins the cast as Trevor Lansing, Ric's father, on August 22. A working actor since 1973, Macht has been in over 85 television shows, including a nine-episode stint as Joe Cooper on Knots Landing in 1982. He also has a daytime credit on that list: he played Dr. Elliot Durbin on One Life to Live in 1996. Trevor will be involved in the Ric/Sonny/Kate storyline. Think the mob. Macht starts working August 2.
Let Us Take A Trip Down "TV" Memory Lane Tonite....
Ever since TV was invented people were in awe of it. Now today we take it for granted. Back in the day we had many great stars that shaped the TV industry. It could be comedy, sitcoms or movies. Oh all the great stars that I can mention, the list would go on and on. Tonite I would like to Remember all the old shows, that are re-runs and still play today. I will have a good list here for everyone. I want this to be a fun discussion, about all our favorite shows. Okay if you are still with me, and haven't "yawned" yet. The Object is to tell me something about your favorite show. If you don't see it listed. Feel free to add it! OOpps did I mention I ummm can't go back to the start of tv. 1.I Love Lucy 2.The Honeymooners 3.Father Knows Best 4.Leave It To Beaver 5.My Three Sons 6. Andy Griffin 7.The Patty Duke ShowOk Lets skip onto the next era so to speak. 1.All In The Family 2.Good Times 3. Jeffersons 4.Mama's Family 5. The Carol Burnette Show Well you get the idea. Let's just have some fun and talk about the show's we used to love to watch. And by the way I was so mad when they took Knots Landing, Falcon Crest & Dynsty off the air. They were my night time soaps...
