Is this judge clever?
A Judge in Colorado has a unique way to punish young people who play their music too loudly in public and violate the city's noise ordinance - he sentences them to one hour of listening to music they hate played at a high volume. Offenders are forced to listen to Barry Manilow, Karen Carpenter and Barney songs. He says they rarely get a repeat offender.I think this is a clever solution. There are lots of people who like the above music but for young kids who would rather listen to Beyonce or rap or other current popular music, this must be deadly for them. It's so much better than paying a fine or going to jail because they learn what it is like for others when they play their music so loud around people who don't care for their music. The punishment fits the crime and maybe they learn a little consideration. What do you think? Is an hour of listening to Barney unusual punishment or just right for the offense?
Too Old To Rock 'N Roll, Too Young To Die...
Well in 18 more days, I will reach the half century mark...and I'm starting to think about things like senility, nursing homes, heart attacks...all those really COOL things you can look forward to as you get older.[em]doh[/em]And so, I started thinking...being as it is a whole new generation of people getting old, can we expect to someday soon hear the soothing strains of Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and others of that genre wafting through the corridors of the retirement homes?I mean...I may be getting older, but I still like to ROCK!!! And they DO call it a "rocking" chair...so can I ROCK as I rock? Or am I gonna have to get used to Lawrence Welk?[em]confused[/em]Oh, the things that keep me awake at night...[em]lol[/em]or just right for the offense?
More Childhood Memories
Okay, I did not watch Mister Rogers. I grew up watching Captain Kangaroo, HR Puffinstuff, and the original Looney Tune charachters. Yes, Wiley Coyote and Roadrunner and Bugs Bunny. What about Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, and we can not leave out Taz, Heckle and Jeckle, Chip and Dale, no, not the dancers, lol. Yes, as a family we watched Hee Haw, Lawrence Welk, and Bonanza. What about Sonny and Cher, the Osmunds? I've already said I was born in the early 60's. I started a discussion on Childhood Memories under the music genre also. Who wants to join me on memory lane? Tag, your it!
What's the earliest TV show you remember watching as a kid?
This is definitely going to date me, since when I was a kid, color TV didn't exist...it was still black and white! Thinking back the shows that I remember watching were...gasp...and don't laugh at some of them...okay?The Lawrence Welk Show (that was my great-grandmother's one to watch) The Ed Sullivan Show The Mickey Mouse Club American BandstandThats about as exciting as TV got in those days--LOLSo what shows do you remember watching as a kid??
