| | Did you end up liking "The Departed"? | | "The Departed" gyrates around a legal conflict between the Massachusetts Police Force and an Irish-American mob organization. A mobster affiliate has been chosen to infiltrate the police force, while a rookie police officer has been chosen to infiltrate the mob. This leads to a splendor of a story, as both endeavor to uncover the others identity... This is a brilliant film. The brilliance of this film is found all around. The acting is solid in every character. The direction is colossal. Plus, the story is captivating and engaging. The story was solid and greatly entertaining. The best part about it, was the way it gave you solid dramatic portions.. while still including a healthy dose of comedy relief. In that way, the story never lingers around. It always serves something of delight. Every moment held something meaningful to absorb. The most important aspect about "The Departed" is how Scorsese has returned to proper form. His last two films gave you much to enjoy. I particularly LOVED hating Daniel Day Lewis in "Gangs of New York" and felt that DiCaprio played Hughes with depth in "The Aviator". Yet, in neither of those two movies do you feel like you have... | |
| | All in one movie | | I just caught a glimpse of the movie Wall Street that is on tvLand right now. I had no idea Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen all starred in one movie together. I wished I would have caught it at the beginning. These are all 3 great actors. Have you ever caught a movie with a few of your favorite actors all in one movie? The Departed" is how Scorsese has returned to proper form. His last two films gave you much to enjoy. I particularly LOVED hating Daniel Day Lewis in "Gangs of New York" and felt that DiCaprio played Hughes with depth in "The Aviator". Yet, in neither of those two movies do you feel like you have watched something spectacular, that left you soaking with a feeling of "WoW". After I watched "The Departed" I knew I had watched something special. It gives you the grittiness of Mean Streets and adds a glamour-style to it, and even takes the violent ways, to another level. The plot as a whole is riveting, and the ending is fantastic. Watch it, so that you may feel... like once again you have been privileged to view a classic by Martin Scorsese. What did you personally think about "The Departed"? | |
| | Has anyone seen the original movie or read the book? | | I love the show the Dead Zone with Anthony Michael Hall that is on tv but I wondered if anyone besides me here ever saw the original movie? Or did you read the book by Stephen King? If you did what did you think of them?In my opinion both were very good and I loved Christopher Walken's performance along with Martin Sheens in the movie. For those who aren't sure here is the link to it on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085407/ for you to check it out. | |
| | Do you think Voodoo exists? | | I don't mean just voodoo from new orleans where they create zombies and make dolls to torture you and things like that. This includes things like the Thais and their curses. A lot of people go to Thailand to wash away whatever curses because they believe that they've been hexed. In Asian society, black magic is an integral part of life..especially with the Taoists. We have something here called "loktang". Usually takes place in a house that's filled with altars and deities' statues and such. I've seen this and the guy started talking in a girl's voice, supposedly one of the deities. Of course, maybe he just changed his voice. My question is, do you believe that people can be hexed or cursed? Or if voodoo dolls really work? You know, things like that. | |
| | Is West Wing Better than Platoon? | | What a weird heading, you may ask. Well, what I wanted to write was who do you think has better screen performance. Father Martin Sheen? Or is Charlie better? Martin is more a character actor as you can see from his prolific acting in the TV series 'West Wing'. Charlie broke onto the silver screen with the best film, 'Platoon'. He was ascending in ' Wall Street'. His marital problems with that beauty ex-wife could be his undoing. So who has greater screen presence father or son? | |
| | ### What ENTERTAINER is CANDY to YOU? ### | | I love entertainment, of all forms. And sometimes I think it would be nice if I could just have say a DAY with an Entertainer that gave me great enjoyment in their ply of their tradeThey are a form of CANDY, they come into you life, they are a part of you in an unusual way, you tend to be sweet in how you think about them, and they get to where many people never do.The chances of meeting them let alone having time with them is very remote. To me, some would be, Sir BOB Hopkins, Mr Sean Connery, Miss Elizabeth Taylor, My very loving. Miss Drew Barrymore, and the Wonderful Miss Roberts, Jonny Depp, Martin Sheen.
Funny man Mal Brooks, The very bright Miss Jodie Foster, Ans a girl I have not seen for a long time Mary Stuart Masterson.
GEE Where does one stop. The pick from that lot, Miss Taylor and Sir BOB, Yes and DREW. Drew for a very strong YES.Who knows they may read this, One never knows who reads these pages and who knows who.Whats your Choice. For a dinner partner, like I have.

| | So I was talking to a friend... | | about movies today online and she asked if I remembered The Never Ending Story. I told her I had seen it but I had always like Peter Falk since I remembered him back from Trials of O’Brien.
Mind you this was back in 1965-66 and I was pretty young myself, but I remember liking it (she was born in the 1990's and had never heard of it.
So, I went looking for the show to see what they had on line and found this: http://aa.1asphost.com/CTVA/US/Legal/TrialsOfOBrien.htm . There were some pretty impressive guest stars in the show. Robert Blake (yes, that one), Cloris Leachman, Roger Moore, Aice Ghostley, Tammy Grimes, Buddy Hackett, Frank Langella, Martin Sheen, Alan Alda, Milton Berle, Burgess Meredith, Angela Lansbury, Faye Dunaway, Will Geer, Gene Hackman, and David Carradine. | |
| | The movie Departed, Scorsese best film?. What was your best part? | | I recently enjoyed Martin Scorsese's film*Departed*. I thought it was his best to date however others beg to differ. A few of my colleagues say*Casino* was his best. I liked*Casino* very much too but*Departed* was stellar over all. My best part (and this is tough because there are a lot of great parts to this movie) was during the interviews with Martin Sheen and Mark Wahlberg. Mr. Wahlberg improvised a lot of his lines. Lastly Mr Nicholson was fantastic in this picture, yes? | |
| | A Question about The Departed --* Extreme Spoiler Alert* | | Okay, so I'm a bit dense, but I'm wondering about the ending of, The Departed. When Mark Wahlberg shot Matt Damon, was this simply revenge for the Martin Sheen character and all that happened, or was Wahlberg also a Rat in the Deparment? | |
