myLot Discussions about The Monkees Memorabilia
Monkees fans?
I just adore The Monkees. I remember as a teen they would rerun thier show on MTV and I would watch it all the time. I love those old shows. I love thier music still many years later. What is your favorite Monkee song? Mine is Daydream believer. But I like a lot of thier songs. The show was goofy to the extreme but I still loved it.
I think we could all learn something from The Monkees theme tune...
The Monkees were "too busy singing to put anybody down". I think if more people were too busy singing to put anybody down the world would be a better place. They also said "we're the young generation and we've got something to say". It's always nice to have something to say, too many people have nothing to say nowadays.Do you know of any songs with a message in the lyrics that more people should pay attention to?I know this is a silly discussion that I'll probably get no responses to, but I just had five minutes to kill.
What is your favorite Monkees Episode?
My favorite episodes from Season 1 are:Monkees in a Ghost Town The Chaperone I was a teenage Monster The prince and the pauper Monkees A La Mode Monkee Chow MeinSeason 2 My favorite seasonThe picture fram Monkee Mayor Hillbilly Honeymoon Wild Monkees Monkees in Texas Monkees Christmas Show Fairy Tale The Devil and Peter Tork Some Like It Lukewarm
Who did you listen to more from the 60/70s? Stones, Beatles or Monkees?
I listened to the Beatles and Monkees about even. I never appreciated the Rolling Stones until the 80s for some reason. I think MTv had something to do with it.
Desert Island Insanity
Okay...you know the score. Stuck there, no escape, no rescue...you only get 1 CD...but you have to pick between:1) The Partridge Family2) The Osmond Brothers3) The Archies4) The MonkeesPick yer poison.I'm going with The Monkees...I still actually like several of their songs...and they had that COOL car![em]thumbup[/em]
Hey, Hey, We've got cancer!
Sorry, not to make fun, except the victum this time is Peter Tork from the old TV show/group, the Monkees.Very sad really, while Mike Nesbith was probably the best trained of the foursome, Peter was rather like Harpo Marx, he could pretty much play anything you put in front of him.http://www.popeater.com/music/article/monkees-legend-peter-tork-has-cancer/369779It does seem kind of odd that the cancer is attacking his tongue, talk about ironic. So, do you remember the Monkees? Did you ever seen them play? (yes) Did you have a favorite? (Davy Jones was very popular) Do you remember who had the most television experience? (Micky had been the circus boy) Happens that Mike was a local - grew up in Georgetown.
Whats wrong with my discussions???
Im not trying to sound like a Mrs know it all, but I feel Im starting a few good discussions here and no respnoses to them. So what exactly do the people here on myLot want to discuss??? I see hundreds of posts for some of the silliest things, and hundreds of comments to back them. Is it all too repetative? Is there a way that I can look through some not so popular discussions and weed out what has already been said over and over? Ok is it my friends list? Do I not have enough friends is that where the comments and ratings come in? Im hitting 100 posts and I dont feel adequate enough to be here.:( Can anyone give me some suggestions, useful suggestions not just BS?? I really enjoy blogging and interacting with people, but I guess I need help on the interacting part? Im accepting all criticism here good or bad! Thank you.
Here we come, walking down the street
How many remember the opening words to the theme song for the TV Show The Monkees? I loved this show and the group that came out of it. Yeah it was corny at times but it was a lot of fun to watch. Did you know that none of them even met before they were cast for the show? That the producers never planned on them making it to super stardom as a group? Kind of neat when you think of it. So are there any other Monkees fans out there? Did you have a favorite one out of the group? Did you have a favorite song or an episode? My favorite song was and still is "Shades of Grey". It's just one that always stuck with me. I'm torn though for a favorite character between Davy and Peter. Davy Jones is a great singer and I had a crush on him but Peter was just so naive and he always seemed like a little lost puppy to me.
Has anybody here bought the series on DVD?
I loved this show when I was a kid. Davy was always my favorite, even when I was 6.:D I recently found the shows on DVD and bought them on eBay along with a few of the CD's. So far I've won season 2 and am up to get season 1 soon.
Who is the most famous person you ever met?
I met Noddy Holder from Slade, the legendary dj John Peel, the sci-fi writer Isaac Asimov, and Richard Branson when he was a young man. Tell us who you have met.
